STRUCK PEDESTRIAN DOES NOT SURVIVE INJURIES IN PENNSYLVANIA CRASH

Oct 23, 2013 - Pedestrian Accidents

There are various forms of transportations, and dependent on the destination, residents and visitors in Pennsylvania utilize different forms. There is one thing that is common to all types of transportation and that is the fact that when getting into and out of a vehicle, bus or train, each person is considered a pedestrian. Even when a person is walking to their car in a parking lot, there are risks and dangers for pedestrians. A small distraction could cause a pedestrian accident and could seriously injure or even kill the person struck by the vehicle.

Authorities in Vernon recently responded to a crash that involved one vehicle and a 20-year-old man. According to preliminary reports, the young man was crossing the road at the intersection of Route 83 and Sunset Terrace when a car traveling on Route 83 struck him. The driver of the vehicle stopped and called the police.

When emergency crews arrived, they transported the pedestrian to the hospital where he later died. Investigation is still ongoing and it is not clear at this time what caused the fatal auto-pedestrian crash. Following investigation, authorities should be able to determine if the pedestrian had the right of way and if the driver made a traffic violation when they struck the pedestrian.

When a negligent driver hits and kills a pedestrian, the loved ones of the deceased could file a wrongful death suit. This could result in damages being awarded to the victim. The compensation could be used to cover the expenses associated with the accident, such as medical bills, funeral costs, damages and pain and suffering.

Coping with the loss of a loved one, or healing after a pedestrian accident can be a difficult time. Those affected by the incident should understand their all their legal rights and options when it comes to compensation. This could significantly benefit them, especially when it comes to financial hardships and the coping process.
