MULTI-VEHICLE CRASH KILLS YOUNG GIRL AND INJURES FOUR
Sep 20, 2013 - Car Accidents
Whether it is due to speed, traffic, weather or distractions, accidents unfortunately frequently occur on the roadway. They can range from a fender bender to a major collision. The impact from the crash can result in severe damages, serious injuries and even death. When multiple vehicles and victims are involved, the investigation of the wreck can take some time, but if fault is determined, those affected might have a cause of action against the party responsible for causing the accident.
A tragic multi-vehicle collision occurred in Potter County recently. Pennsylvania State Police responded to the car accident that involved three vehicles. According to preliminary reports, the accident happened on Route 6 at around 4:20 p.m., when an eastbound driver allegedly lost control of her vehicle. This caused her vehicle to enter the westbound lanes and crash into two vehicles.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found that a four-year-old girl had been killed in the crash. The young girl was a passenger in the eastbound vehicle that traveled into the westbound lanes. The vehicle also carried a three-year-old boy and a 27-year-old woman. The 23-year-old driver, young boy and 27-year-old woman were all injured in the vehicle. A driver of a struck vehicle was also injured and the driver of the third vehicle was not injured in the collision.
Investigation of the crash is ongoing and authorities have yet to confirm the cause of the accident. If the driver that crossed into opposite traffic is at fault, those affected might be able to file civil claims against that driver. The loved ones of the young girl killed in the crash may be eligible to file a wrongful death claim. This would help cover the expenses for medical bills, funeral costs and pain and suffering. Those injured in the crash also may be able to file a personal injury claim in order to recover for the damages and expenses associated with the accident.
A multi-vehicle accident can affect numerous people, even if they are not directly involved in the incident. A claim for compensation could be important and beneficial for helping to reduce financial hardships caused by the accident. Furthermore, it could help with the coping process for those who have lost a loved one in the car accident.
