SUV AND BUGGY COLLIDE IN PENNSYLVANIA INJURING FOUR
Nov 15, 2013 - Car Accidents
It is not uncommon to see various types of vehicles on the roadways. Furthermore, in addition to motor vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians are frequently seen. Although not common in all areas across the nation, in some towns, it is very common to travel by a horse and buggy. No matter what type of vehicle a person is driving on the road, they should be cautious and continence of others around them even if they are not in an automobile. Even a small distraction could result in a car accident with serious injuries and damages.
Pennsylvania State Police recently responded to a late night collision between an SUV and a horse and buggy. That accident happened around 11:00 p.m. in Lurgan Township. According to preliminary reports, it was suspected that the horse and buggy that was occupied by three teenage girls pulled in front of the SUV that was traveling west of Paxton Run Road. This resulted in the two colliding.
Medical crews responded to the crash and reported that all three females in the buggy and the 21-year-old driver of the SUV were all injured. Authorities are still investigating the crash and no citations have been issued at this time. Following investigation, both cause and fault could be determined.
Whether in a motor vehicle or a horse-drawn buggy, the rules of the road need to be abided by. A person who causes an automobile collision by failing to follow the rules or being negligent will be liable for the injuries and damages they cause. A person injured by another driver could file a personal injury claim in order to recover compensation to cover the expenses associated with the accident such as medical bills and damages.
Being involved in an accident can be a very upsetting event. Most do not expect to ever be involved in a collision, so a lot of things are running through their mind as they try to move past and recover from the event. It is important that those involved understand their rights and options and determine if filing for compensation is the right step for them.
