Sep 4, 2013 - Wrongful Death

Pennsylvania drivers understand the importance of safe driving. This does not only mean abiding by the rules of the road but also making good and proper judgments. To that effect, drivers should avoid distracting activities such as texting while driving. When a driver is distracted, speeding or under the influence, numerous lives are put at risk. Even when a driver momentarily takes their eyes off the road, they increase their chances of being involved in a fatal collision.

Take, for instance, a recent two-car crash that affected numerous residents. Pennsylvania authorities responded to a collision between an SUV and an automobile. According to preliminary reports, the SUV crossed the centerline for unknown reasons, resulting in a head-on collision with an oncoming vehicle in the opposite lane.

The driver of the SUV was traveling with his 12-year-old daughter, 10-year-old son and 6-year-old nephew at the time of the collision with the automobile driver who had three passengers. The driver of the SUV and his son were injured in the accident while his daughter and nephew did not survive the crash. In addition, the other driver and all three of his passengers were killed.

Authorities are still investigating the accident but they suspect that the SUV driver caused the collision. The negligent driver could face liabilities following the investigation. The loved ones of those killed in the accident could file a wrongful death claim in order to recover the costs of medical bills, funeral expenses, damages and pain and suffering. Recovering these costs would not only help alleviate the financial burdens following the incident but also help with the healing process for the loved ones coping with the deaths.

A fatal accident can be a hard event to overcome. Those affected by a negligent driver and dealing with the loss of a loved one should understand their rights and options. This might require seeking guidance from an expert who can help explain their situation and what route is best for gaining compensation.

"I was injured in an accident and my truck was totaled. The guy who hit me had a low insurance policy. I reinjured my neck and shoulder in the accident. I thought nothing could be done since the guy had hardly any insurance and I had a previous condition, but Jonathan Russell from Drake, Hileman & Davis was able to get me a nice cash settlement!"
